I visited the northern coast of Spain in the Asturias region during my postdoc at the ICTJA in Barcelona.
We studied the Jurassic and Cretaceous deposits (clastics and carboantes) in several outcrops along the coast. The main aim of the fiedltrip was to collect data to reconstruct the evolution and timing of the opening of the Bay of Biscay and ultimately linked that with the opening of the North Atlantic ocean.
